SPEEDBAG PLATFORM
CRANK GEAR ALIGNMENT REPAIR
Over a couple months time, it was getting
progressively harder to raise or lower this speedbag
platform, until one day it froze up. At first the problem
wasn't obvious, but with closer examination, the retaining
ring that keeps the crank shaft lined up, was history. It
was impossible to repair without major wielding and
redesign.
When turning the handle, the crank shaft
would move, causing the gears to jam. The crank shaft
retaining ring couldn't be replaced, so we screwed on a
metal corner bracket, thus preventing any side movements.
The speedbag platform now works smoother than when it was
new. It took a couple hours to think of an idea, about 5
minutes to complete the repairs. CLOSE-UP
