Gladiator Boxing Gym is owned and operated by Shawn Darling. Darling is a certified US Amateur boxing coach and a NJ Police Academy boxing instructor. Darling is a former "Tough Man" fighter. He is also a certified personal trainer and certified in first aid and CPR. Darling has worked in camps in upstate NY under the tutelage of Hall of Famers: Carlos Ortiz, Vito Antuafermo , Iran Barkley, Emile Griffith, Mark Breland, Juan Laporte and Hector Rocha. Darling has also learned from the following champs who have coached at Gladiator: Matthew Saad Muhammad, Bobby Czyz, Ivan Robinson, and Shamone Alvarez. In addition to the numerous amateur champs Darling has coached, he has also assisted in the coaching of USBA and NABF champ John "The Eastern Beast" Brown and 2x Olympian Guru Singh of India . Gladiator Boxing Gym is home to Team Gladiator, which is a registered member of USA Boxing and is a non-for profit organization. Gladiator Boxing Gym is for ages 5 and up and has something for everyone. Box for fun, fitness, amateur competition, or box professionally. An ideal workout would include: jump rope, shadow box, stretch, calisthenics, medicine ball work, plyometrics, and of course boxing instruction. Make right onto 532 east. Go 2 miles to traffic light. Make left onto Rt 9 north. Go 2.2 miles and make a left at the traffic light. Go .1 miles to stop sign and make a left onto Old Shore Rd. Go .1 miles to Challenger Way and make a right. Go .1 miles to the end and make a right into the parking lot. Go 2.3 miles to the traffic light and make a right onto Rt 9 south. Go 1.3 miles south down Rt 9 and make a right at the light. Go .1 miles to stop sign and make a left onto Old Shore Rd. Go .1 miles and make a right onto Challenger Way. Go .1 miles to the end and make a right into the parking lot.
